Acai Berry and Diabetes![]() Navigation: Main page Author: Adem There has been a lot of talk lately about acai berry juice as a natural diabetic remedy. We looked into the claims, and here's what we found:* Acia berry supplements are found more and more frequently at dietary supplements stores. * There is a great deal of promotion out there claiming that acai berry juice and acai berry supplements can "cure" diabetes. First, let me say that there are a great many very good things about acai berry juice and supplements. It's loaded with vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. Some say that acai berry contains Omega 6 and fatty acids as well, and both of these have been closely associated with heart health. So if this is true, anything that will help delay the affects of aging and/or heart disease would be very helpful to diabetics everywhere. Acai berry is said to contain trace elements that are considered helpful in maintaining muscle strength. Some believe that acai berry will help lower cholesterol and — since it is high in fiber — help maintain digestive tract health and reduce the incident of colon cancer. That can't be all bad. Acai berry juice isn't available everywhere just yet. The taste is described as falling somewhere between chocolate and fruit juice. It's an acquired taste, they say. The important things for diabetics to consider before they add acai berry to their diet is: 1. Your doctor should be consulted before you add or subtract anything from your recommended diabetes control diet. 2. You must remember that acia berry juice contains carbs, and carbs MUST be counted. The bottom line is this: Acai berry juice won't hurt — if your doctor approves, and if you include the carbs in your daily carb count. But there is no proof that acai berry has any effect on diabetes. Disclaimer Privacy-Policy Terms-Of-Use |
